Educational Support Services

The Northern Region Educational Services Commission offers a variety of services with the ability to customize each of them.

192/193 Services

New Jersey's Chapter 192 and Chapter 193 programs are provided to eligible students enrolled full-time in non-public elementary and secondary schools in New Jersey. Chapter 192 programs provide non-public students with auxiliary services such as compensatory education, English as a second language, and home instruction.

Administrative Searches

The NRESC is expanding its reach to support client school districts with their searches for superintendents, business administrators, special education directors, and technology directors.  The NRESC can customize a plan that is right for you and your community. We will lead the entire process from the review of the district's ideal candidate to the introduction of the chosen individual to the public.

Adult School/GED Programs

Within the NRESC we recognize that knowledge is power and we support the pursuit of education beyond the realm of traditional K-12 and higher education learning. For adults seeking their high school equivalency, the NRESC can provide a personalized learning environment to prepare adult learners for the GED.

Credit-Recovery Program

This after-school program for high school students is offered both fall and spring semesters, allowing your students to receive credit for courses in which they were previously unsuccessful.

Communications and Public Relations

School districts have a responsibility to communicate regularly with their stakeholders. However, many school leaders simply don't have the capacity to develop and implement a comprehensive communications program. By partnering with the Northern Region Educational Services Commission, districts can purchase a wide range of strategic and creative communication services.

Instructional Technology

Our goal is to hire highly skilled individuals to meet the professional development and instructional needs of your staff. Our skilled technology coaches can lead large, small, and/or individual professional development sessions, collaborate (co-plan/co-teach/model) lessons with staff, and assist your school in taking the next step with data analysis.

Non-Public Nursing Services

The NRESC provides mandated nursing services to various private/parochial schools across the county for several districts including the Paterson School District. Our nurses ensure that required services are provided to the students.

One on One Aides

The NRESC can provide your school district with high-quality, part-time one-on-one aides/paraprofessionals for your academic needs throughout the school year, as well as during any summer school or extended school year (ESY) programs.

Professional Development

The NRESC is excited to offer a professional development series in the Spring of 2023.  Click here to browse through our Professional Development Catalog and register for sessions.

Substitute Custodial Services

Our newest venture is providing local school districts with substitute custodians for day, night, and summer shifts.  NRESC substitute custodians will be able to pick up jobs just like a substitute teacher does.  Each day, NRESC custodians can log into our web-based tool to accept any open custodial positions in our partner school districts.

Substitute Teacher Registry

The Substitute Registry provides highly qualified substitute teachers for eight school districts in Passaic County. In keeping up with today’s technology, NRESC uses the online service called Frontline Absence Management

Summer Extended School Year

The NRESC currently operates ESY programs in Wayne and Ringwood, as well as at our Skylands School...

Summer School

The NRESC operates summer school programs that allow students to remediate academic weaknesses, recover credit for courses in which they were unsuccessful during the academic year or take advantage of enrichment courses.

Supplemental Education Services

As an approved SES provider, NRESC offers additional academic instruction in language arts literacy, mathematics, and science to students who are eligible for services. This program, provided within your district, gives your students the opportunity to increase their level of academic achievement.

Therapist Services

County-wide NRESC fills district needs for specialized personnel including: Speech/Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapists, COTAs, Physical Therapists, Certified ABA Behaviorist, SAC, and CST evaluation teams.
